Our St. George’s College students excel at the 2026 World Schools Spanish Debate Championship.

Four students represented Peru in Panama. Ingrid R. and Úrsula B. secured fourth place in the team competition and stood out among the championship's top speakers.

Ingrid R. and Rafaela A. (10th grade), along with Úrsula B. and José Manuel V. (11th grade), represented Peru at the World Schools Spanish Debate Championship (MED 2026), held in Panama from August 23 to 31.

Ingrid and Úrsula were part of the SNDE Manu team, which advanced to the semifinals and finished in fourth place overall. In the individual rankings, Ingrid was recognized as the eighth-best speaker in the championship—out of approximately 130 participants—while Úrsula placed 16th.

These achievements build upon an outstanding international track record: in the 2025 edition, Ingrid was crowned world champion and Úrsula world runner-up, each competing with a different team. This year, both returned to the final rounds, reaffirming their competitive caliber.

Meanwhile, José Manuel and Rafaela were part of SNDE Lachay, representing the country during the preliminary phase and facing international teams in a forum dedicated to the exchange of ideas, analysis, and argumentation in Spanish.

The Peruvian delegation delivered an outstanding performance: six of the twelve teams that qualified for the knockout rounds were Peruvian, as were three of the four semifinalists. With an all-Peruvian final, the country secured its fourth consecutive championship in the competition. The delegation's achievements were also recognized by Peru's Ministry of Culture.

At St. George’s College, we celebrate the efforts of Ingrid, Úrsula, Rafaela, and José Manuel, whose commitment to debate reflects the value of conducting research, listening to diverse perspectives, and communicating ideas with clarity and sound reasoning.
